i've Been lazy.

Over on monday earlier this week, my workplace celebrated her Golden Jubilee.
I was glad that part of work was over, suddenly it felt as if i was back in my previous workplace before i left for studies, with all the regimental drills and all...deja vu man.

Talking about Deja Vu, lately something happened again that led me to think deeply about this theory of self fulfilling prophecy.

I'll cite just two examples as too much details bore the idle reader and also i've already had enough white hair for the time being.=)

Years ago, i was a trainee somewhere and i was hoping i wouldn't be selected for this dreaded vocation...during an innocent trip to the shops, i bought this polo tee which only a specific vocationalist would have to attend during part of his training.
weeks later down the road then, i realised that i've been selected to be posted to the dreaded wing for my next phase of training.

Now we fastforward to the current few years and a likewise situation has just occurred...
last year while i was attending a course somewhere, AGAIN i innocently bought a running singlet which beared the insignia of the impending posting which i will be headed to come this September!

On top of these two incidents, there were many others, it was to the point where i realised that this wasn't just in my mind, it was actually happening every single time!!!
Now why don't i seem to have this kinda positive mind over matter power when it comes to things like affairs of the heart, money and I'm a hero that's came to save the World?

*if you had similar experiences like mine, feel free to drop me an email or yak to me about it over msn.
I'm already feeling your vibe.=)

Weekends are so short!!!

Due to my commitments at NDP this year, weekends have became more precious then before.
Fitting everything into one sunday with no monday off in sight has tired me out, i look hagged/jaded and temperament have became more volatile then usual.

Despite all this, catching up with Nat before she flew off for her getaway in Melb was great and thanks once again for the gifts you've gotten me. Let me digest my comics first before i move on to heavier stuff like the novel.=P

Heading out in awhile to bring mum out for lunch at chinatown and at the same time visit the Buddha tooth relic temple with her.

Another wedding dinner tonight. $$$$$$$=Gone.

010706~010707

A year ago today, i awoke realizing that i've just lost one of my best troopers.
Lately, before this fateful day, i've had deep thoughts about Herng Jye again and again, i've thought about how things would be, if he was still around, as the men are about to ord and end their national service, i miss him more and more so.

Perhaps it is also due to the fact that i'm posting out soon.
Coupled with the eminent fact that i'll be disposed off as soon as NDP ends, the sour feeling creeps into my mind.
Indeed this post is one of lament....
A loss that shouldn't be and a failure to complete and put closure to this wonderful journey with the men throughout this mono.

Herng Jye, You will always be remembered.
A Brother, A Soldier and A Friend.

All Hail King Henry, The Departed.

A Legend has left Ashburton Grove.

Although he didn't really perform this season. He will always be a Gunner through and through.

All the best and may all Gunners pray for the team and Monsieur Wenger.=)

Over the weekend, i headed up north to a lil place called Pekan Nanas in Pontian where i spent my childhood years running after wild kampung chicken, picking up durians just outside of my yard, falling down n cutting myself on the dirt road, swimming in streams..all this and more in the company of someone whom raised me (more) during my infant years, My Granny. =)

I'm always so grateful for her being in my life, for always watching out for me during my sickly childhood years, for being such a nuisance with my loud cries and naughty nature, for always keeping me safe and unafraid during those trips where we had to head back to Singapore to get my passport revalidated. (When i was a kid, i was terrified by the big trucks that roared past the roads and blasted their airhorns!)

And so after many years of just visiting her during CNY and her birthday, this year was extra special coz its her 80th Birthday!!!
Though it was raining and there was a human jam at the Malaysian customs, it wasn't gonna prevent me from getting there to spend time with her this year.=)

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

She looks happy doesn't she? =)

Thanks for everything and i love you Ah MAH!=)

.........

Usually before i leave for holidays or training overseas, i'll have a lot to write in my blog and tonight is no different.
Tmr afternoon i'll be heading to Thailand again for some work matters.

darnit! Because of this, i'm gonna miss two weddings, one anniversary, one Mayday concert already!!!

Just the other day i met kim again after a long absence, yeah coz of work n social life, i havent hung out with my sec sch bunch for a year or so.
But though i accept that i've not been there with them for most parts, what irked me was how the group liked to push the responsibility to the individual.
its You who hasnt made the effort, its You...
In reality i'm pretty sick of this attitude, i've always been someone whom if you bother to ask, you'll seldom find me saying no, lest for very good reasons, i find no reason to reject others too. And so conveniently, the individual is blamed for not putting effort, alright i'm guilty as charged!

So pray explain, how do you rationalise inviting me for the wedding dinner, yet not asking me for the ROM when i already mentioned i won't be around for the wedding dinner coz of work but no one bothered to inform me about the ROM????

Disappointed i am.

Bring me to Alaska!!!

Some of perceive one of the ways to travel the world requires you to get into this niche group we like to call aircrew. In reality, jobs nowadays requires you to travel very much often and to many different places as well.
As many of my friends could attest, though the places us non-crew visit aren't as glamorous or exciting, all in all, its really great if your job allows some opportunity for travel, especially when you're young and all! (LOL)
I'm really praying hard that i'll remain in the unit till they get back from overseas training in ALASKA!
YooHOOOO!! Think eskimos and sledgedogs people!! Yay!!!

hahaha

Meanwhile, training hard physically. =)
and checking out tattoo shops.heeheez

三只老虎,三只老虎。

Was out earlier with Gavin and the rest at the tattoo shop checking out designs for a tatt that i've been wanting to get very much and for a long long time.

I've found something tat i really like, its something outrightly 'beng-ish' ..yah, what to do?
everyone associates tigers and dragons with the underworld figures we've all seen adorned with skin art of such in movies and on telly.
But it's something i fancy very very much and i'm keen to get it done before i head up to thailand this june for the upcoming bilateral exercise.

5-6 hours under the needle doesn't sound very enticing. But even though it's my first time, i believe i'll be able to sustain.hurhur.

Latest update too on my posting..seems like there's still on conclusion as to where i'll be posted to, news come from all directions but i've learnt not to really be too interested in it anymore coz ultimately it really isn't up to me or as if i can make a choice. Its going good though, i don't feel so congested with thoughts and i'm just letting the usual nerve wrecking workload occupy my rather idle mind.

Been trying to read more but i'm always stuck with my manga and comics+anime that i've totally neglected about having good literature as part of my mental diet. Perhaps that is why i'm getting constipation up there and thoughts aren't coming out as much as they should!

An evening that was planned to be out drinking and enjoying the awesome live band at dragonfly now sees me in cyberspace dishing out my thoughts on this webspace. mmm i've really no true kakis at the moment whom share my passion n thirst for the strong drink, Thai Buddhism and sunnydays by the beach!

No wonder i'm unhappy!?

*Maybe i'll post my tatt out here if it becomes a reality. =)

HOPE

Hope is a dangerous thing.
It's so lethal, i think it should come with a health warning.

I think as we all go through this mortal life, somehow or the other we've learnt how upsetting it can be when hope doesn't translate into reality.
And as that happens and we swear off HOPE. One way or the other, it comes back to us almost karmic or seasonal like, to strike at our deepest emotional reserves again.

Be positive but not hope for too much i'll say. =)
Good Morning!

Are you Lonesome tonight?

In life, often we find ourselves in a situation whereby we find our pool of friends decreasing due to the different stages in life. What once was a merry gang of 13 bashful boys has now become no more. In work it is not much different, when you were in the junior ranks, the pool of fellow colleagues and people whom you interact with is vast and deep. As you progressed, this pool becomes smaller and rather shallow, by this i mean many things, there aren't any more true friends, each individual is another whom wants to outdo the other in some sense or the other. Each and every one has his own priorities then and no longer can you share the camaraderie where true bonds were formed.

I'm coming to a stage where i'll be posting out from my current unit soon, how soon or how late, i'm not sure. I'm sure however, that i'm very much gonna miss this tour and the people and men that have fought under my charge during this period. Where there was once 39, now there is only 38. I still think of him very much and the sadness is compounded when i realise i might very well be posted to a place where the incident took place that resulted in that loss.

Indeed, i've come to realize through it all that being in command is addictive. Though i could settle for a less tedious appointment and a cushier job elsewhere. The hard and tough times you go through with you men aren't comparable to anything else in this world for i strongly believe that only when you go through the toughest times together, only through that will you discover and forge the strongest bonds.

I wish i could stay till the men ord and get back to their lives out of the army, i wonder if that is possible, i'll keep praying for that though.

There's just too many things to think about and my grey hairs are multiplying by the dozens. I hope everyone out there is doing fine. =)
