Mates

Lately i've been reconnected to many friends whom have lost contact with since i've been to Melb and after my National Service.

I met Rujia at the National Stadium during NDP.
KokCheng came back over the holidays too to settle his wedding in Oct. It turns out his close poly mate is my gal's best friend.
Last night i've got an sms from Ping, one of my fellow section mates in Tango/Alpha Wing during my Officer cadet days.

But i'm glad to have made contact with these friends of mine again.
Three Cheers for Friendship!

Majulah Singapura!

This is the last time that the Parade will be held in the National Stadium before it's reconstruction.

Towards the end of the show, the skies were filled with red and white ballons. A magical sight.

I used to think that only Melb had a spectacular cloudy sunset. I was wrong.=)

A Year Has Passed.

Last year this day was spent preparing for a big National Day dinner i organised at one of my mate's place in the suburbs, a big get together doing what Singaporeans do best.

Eat lotsa food, make alot of noise and mess up the whole place. hurhur*

Although my chicken rice dish that day failed coz it just took too long to cook for 15pax and i ended up only preparing enough for 6 people. It was a wonderful occasion due to the sheer number of people who got together and had fun together.
Even my roomie, Leon was invited and he definitely enjoyed his share of Singaporean dishes, especially my SAMBAL with Lady's Fingers.hahaha

This year, i made it to the NDP Preview and with abit more luck, i hope to be in the Stadium with my beloved celebrating the Nation's birthday.
Although to some, this day is just another public holiday, after participating in the parade in 2002, being there on the actual day with all the raraaa from the parade and jetplanes, i find myself boiling with sheer patriotism whenever i hear the National Anthem.

Its not coz of my job, nor am i one of those who think this lovely island we reside in is really the first world country it attempts to project, but i know when shit happens, nothing will stop me from protecting this land where my loved ones live in. Its not the reason why i am in the job i'm in, its about being able to protect what you love and thats how you call it your own.

Dearest Singapore, though my heart yearns for a life that's unreal in Melb, i know i truly belong here. Where my home is.
